Supportman: $660 in Monthly Recurring Revenue

Receive Intercom metrics and ratings in Slack, Instantly

Supportman which connects to Intercom to send rating reports instantly, was founded 2020 and went on to be owned by Damon Chen.

The service allows support teams to receive and understand any negative feedback directly to their Slack channel. Teams are also able to receive weekly reports and overall conversation ratings.

This allows businesses to get in touch with any customers with issues or leaving negative feedback in a timely manner, rather than waiting for Intercom reports. The analysis can also form a helpful tool for understanding overall performance, celebrating successes and coaching support teams.

Supportman pricing starts at $25 per month for up to five support agents, $50 for up to 15 agents and $100 per month for the Business tier with up to 30 agents, which also includes a team filter.

In July 2023 Damon announced he was looking to sell the business - which was generating $663 in MRR - for $35,000. Whilst we don't have information on the cost of the acquisition, we do know that it was sold to Tettra owners Andy Cook and Nelson Joyce in November 2024.

Rating Fish: $700 in Monthly Recurring Revenue

A Crisp Partner which conducts Surveys and collects feedback

Rating Fish is a feedback tool used on the Crisp chat platform was launched in August 2022.

Customers using Crisp to communicate with users on their site can download Rating Fish from the integrations page, and then capture customer feedback using the tool. The platform also has API integrations with the likes of Slack and Zapier.

The feedback gained by Rating Fish is fully customisable, and can cover things like what customers really think of support staff, pricing, products, or even the website or software app itself. This information can then be shared in the Rating Fish dashboard as a way of analysing, rating and coaching teams.

Since its launch the tool has sent out over 1.6 million surveys and is currently being used by dozens of paying customers.

The $24.99 price point for the service has allowed the business to grow to $700 monthly recurring revenue, the vast majority of which is profit.

HelpKit: $10K+ in Monthly Recurring Revenue

HelpKit provides websites with a customer support chatbot and a way to turn Notion docs into a customer knowledge base. The business was founded in 2020 by Dominik Sobe.

The AI-powered chatbot assistant can answer customer queries using notes from Notion to train itself. Businesses can also reduce their support ticket requests by creating a knowledge area whereby customers can answer questions themselves.

This knowledge base can be installed as a web app widget, or as a searchable public knowledge base hosted on a subdomain.

The HelpKit pricing starts at $19 per month per site, which allows 25 articles and one user. There are additional Business and Professional tiers which provide additional articles, users and features, priced at $39 and $79 per month per site respectively. The option to add the HelpKit AI chatbot is an additional $49 per month.

More than 250 customers are now using HelpKit, which has enabled Dominik to grow the platform to over $10,000 MRR.

SiteGPT: $251K in Annual Revenue

AI customer service chatbot

SiteGPT is an AI customer support agent platform which was founded in 2023 by Bhanu Teja.

The chatbot is trained on a website’s content, and can then instantly answer visitor questions. This automation and the integrations with the likes of Slack, Intercom and WhatsAp can remove the human intervention for many customer support tickets.

Customers can simply provide SiteGPT with a URL or upload files to scan in order for the software to learn the product or service. They can then embed the chatbot on the site and provide feedback to improve future interactions. Users can also receive daily email summaries to track performance and knowledge gaps.

SiteGPT offers four pricing tiers ranging from $49 to $999 per month, each allowing unlimited integrations and incremental numbers of messages and team members.

Within one month of launching SiteGPT was already achieving $10,000 in monthly recurring revenue, which had grown to $15,000 per month in just five months. In its first year the chatbot had been used over five million times and the business surpassed $251,000 in total revenue.

Typebot: $36.5K in Monthly Recurring Revenue

Drag and drop chatbot creation service

Typebot is a conversational app-building platform which was founded in 2021 by Baptiste Arnaud.

Typbot aims to help users replace the existing live chat forms on their site with interactive chatbots to increase conversion rates and data capture. Customers can use the software to easily create chatbots using the drag-and-drop system and a range of templates.

These apps can then be embedded onto a website with just one click thanks to Typebot integrations with the likes of Shopify, WordPress and Zapier.

There is a free plan which allows 200 chats per month. There are then two paid options with the Starter tier which costs $39 per month and allows two users, 2,000 monthly chats and branding removed. And the Pro plan which allows five users to operate 10,000 chats per month, as well as incorporating a WhatsApp integration.

The service is being used to enable over 4.7 million chats per month for the 640+ active customers. This has resulted in monthly recurring revenue of $36,500 for the business.

DocsBot AI: $500K in Annual Recurring Revenue

AI-powered documentation assistant

Aaron Edward loved to build robots, go-karts, treehouses, you name it. After 20 years of building software, Edward built DocsBot, one of his many products that, combined, are bringing him a total of $500,000 in annual recurring revenue.

The platform is an an AI-powered documentation assistant that can be built in four easy steps, without any coding or technical skills. In only a few minutes, businesses can create a bot with advanced privacy settings and use AI models that match their needs.

They can then train the bot with content imported from docs, websites, and so on. After trial sessions, the bot can be embedded into websites, documentation, help centres, Slack, Teams, and more.

Once it’s up and running, the bot allows businesses to offer instant, 24/7 customer support, and automate customer journeys, from leads and presales to onboarding, support, and retention. DocsBot is already utilised by over 2,000 businesses.

Upvoty: $50K in Monthly Recurring Revenue

Instant user feedback software

Upvoty is a user feedback platform which was founded by Mike Slaats in 2018.

The business, which integrates with the likes of Slack, Zapier and Chrome, allows users to turn the feedback from their customers into actionable product and service advice. The software also includes the ability to share both a product roadmap and an interactive changelog with customers.

Upvoty features a dashboard which includes feedback boards, feature requests, and the ability for customers to vote on the suggested additions. Enabling businesses to know exactly what they should be focusing on to please their audience.

Pricing starts at $15 per month for one board and 150 users, rising to $49 for five boards and additional integrations. There is also an unlimited usage option for $99 per month which is white-labelled and also includes the option of custom CSS.

Mike shared that Upvoty achieved $535,000 in revenue in 2022, and this has since grown to $50,000 per month.

Magic Feedback: $1.3M in Funding

Collating all user feedback using AI

Magic Feedback is an AI platform that unifies all user feedback in one place. The business was co-founded by two former Google employees, Francisco Arias and Nima Vali Rajabi in 2023.

Their custom-built AI model automatically analyses and organises feedback, so that companies can act upon this more effectively.

By using over 350 integrations this searchable feedback is categorised into areas like top requests and trends. Essentially meaning companies can use this data to make product decisions faster and more intelligently.

As part of the launch of the business, Magic Feedback received €1.2 million (~$1.3M) in pre-seed funding to help establish the brand and reach new customers.

Canny: $3.4M in Annual Revenue

Customer feedback collection and analysis software

Canny is a customer feedback management platform that allows businesses to understand their user’s needs. The business was founded by Sarah Hum and Andrew Rasmussed in 2017.

The bootstrapped service collects customer feature requests and feedback, which is then organised and analysed within Canny. This in turn allows the business to prioritise their roadmap and notify customers of these product decisions and updates.

Canny, which has a team of 17 people, includes integrations with existing workflows for ease of use, such as Slack, Intercom and Salesforce.

There is a free option which features a changelog, public roadmap and one integration. There are also two paid plans, a Starter tier priced at $79 per month and a Growth plan at $359 per month which include a custom domain and other additional features and integrations.

To date Canny has over 580 paying customers and is generating $3.4 million in annual recurring revenue.

Chatbase: $392K in Monthly Recurring Revenue

Custom ChatGPT for websites

Chatbase provides a custom GPT offering for websites after being founded by Yasser Elsaid in 2022.

Users can embed the chat service onto their site to interact with visitors, handle customer support and even collect leads.

The Chatbase bot can be customised and uses the businesses own data sources to learn the needs of the website as well as the services they offer. The tool currently operates in over 80 languages and has integrations with the likes of Slack, WhatsApp and Zapier

Yasser exceeded all expectations of the business in 2023, achieving $220,000 in monthly recurring revenue, with just six full-time staff. Chatbase has since gone on to reach $392,000 in MRR.

Missive: $6M in Annual Revenue

Team communication and work management app

Missive is an app for all internal and external workplace communication which was founded in 2015 by Philippe-Antoine Lehoux, Etienne Lemay and Rafael Masson.

The platform supports team email inboxes, group chat functions, analytics including reply and handle times and task assignments, as well as many other functions.

In addition to this, Missive allows teams to collaborate using a number of messaging platforms including SMS, WhatsApp and email. The app also has integrations with a number of workflows including HubSpot, OpenAI and Shopify.

Missive has a free option which allows up to three users and 15 days of history. There are also three paid tiers ranging from $14 - $26 per month per user. Each tier allows different numbers of users as well as analytics and reporting capabilities.

Currently over 3,700 teams are using the service across more than 75 countries, this has allowed the business to grow to $6 million in annual recurring revenue.

Hiver: $800K in Monthly Recurring Revenue

AI-powered customer service platform

Hiver’s journey is far from the typical startup story – you have an idea, build a prototype, pitch to investors, get funded, and then hypergrow. Instead, for six years, Hiver was a small team of people working on a tool to allow Google Suite customers to manage team emails better by using Shared Labels.

Today, Hiver is an AI-powered customer service platform that brings together all communication channels, apps, and data into one place. Since 2017, the business has raised $30 million in funding and has now reached $800,000 in monthly recurring revenue.

The platform offers products for email management and multi-channel help desks, and a range of features, from collaboration and automation features to AI capabilities, analytics, and integrations with dozens of apps.

Hiver is trusted by more than 1,500 companies from over 30 countries, including industry leaders such as Upwork, AppsFlyer, Harvard University, Flexport, and Kiwi.com.

CommBox: $15M in Funding

Omnichannel customer experience platform

Founded in 2013, Commbox is an AI omnichannel customer experience platform that can automate complex customer queries and boost customer satisfaction, while reducing the workload of contact centres and the cost of human resources.

With a total of $15 million in funding, CommBox is already trusted by big brands like Suzuki, Brinks, AIG, and many others across more than a dozen industries.

On the platform, agents can find a unified workspace, where they communicate with customers on any channel and automate complex tasks using AI chatbots. They can also run WhatsApp and SMS campaigns and access dashboards with real-time data about their productivity, campaigns, and customer satisfaction.

CommBox offers a variety of memberships tailored to team sizes, for example, one to 10 members, or up to over 100 members.

Help Scout: $30M in Annual Recurring Revenue

Great things happen when you’re in the right place, at the right time, with the right people. Nick, Jared and Denny came up with a new product after struggling to find a customer-centric tool to handle the volume of incoming emails for their website development business.

They co-founded Help Scout, a customer support platform that allows businesses to keep their team connected with a shared inbox, chat with customers live, and have their own help centre, all in the same place.

With Help Scout, businesses can resolve 36% more emails thanks to its AI features and handle four times more conversations thanks to its automation tool.

With $30 million in recurring annual revenue, Help Scout is trusted by over 10,000 customers across more than 140 countries, from small businesses and charities to big brands like Basecamp, Trello, and Buffer.

Jesse Zhang and Ashwin Sreenivas co-founded Decagon in 2023, with a clear mission to transform enterprise customer support with groundbreaking AI technology.

Decagon’s AI agents offer a customer experience while freeing up human resources from repetitive tasks and routine queries, allowing them to focus on more strategic support.

The AI agents are always available to manage customer interactions from start to end, interpret data, and generate custom responses in any language. Moreover, the AI gets more knowledgeable with every human interaction.

After realising the downside of siloing developers and customers, Dheeraj Pandey and Monj Agarwal founded DevRev, an AI-powered software that helps businesses align their product development with customer needs.

Since its launch in 2020, DevRev has gathered $150.8 million in funding and is utilised by over 1,000 businesses.

The software allows developers to connect their code directly to production issues and customer interactions, and access integrated roadmapping, sprint tracking, and real-time analytics. The software’s AI tech can then automate workflows, improve efficiency, and accelerate reply times.

Businesses can choose solutions for product, support, and engineering teams, with prices starting from $9.99 per user per month.

Freshworks: Q3 2024 Revenue of $186M

Customer service, IT, and CRM software

In 2017, Girish Mathrubootham and Shan Krishnasamy came across an article about ZenDesk raising their prices by 60%-300%, and a comment from an unhappy user sparked an idea that would later become Freshworks – a customer service, IT, and CRM software with AI superpowers.

Trusted by over 68,000 businesses worldwide, Freshworks can help deliver faster customer service, scalable IT service, and customised sales and marketing tools.

In 2023, Freshworks registered a total revenue of $596.4 million, a 20% growth compared to the previous year. This 20% YoY growth is also expected continue in 2024, with annual revenue projected to be in the region of $713-716 million.

Freshworks has different plans depending on the business needs and offers a free membership for those interested in its customer service product.
