CG Cookie: $44K in Monthly Revenue
3D artist software learning platform
CG Cookie is a platform for users to learn how to use 3D creation software, Blender.
The business was founded by Wes Burke and Jonathan Williamson back in 2008. It’s since been used by more than 3,000 students to improve their artistry knowledge and skills.
Customers of the service can access training file downloads and more than 220 Blender tutorial videos. They can then share their creations to receive feedback from instructors and the CG Cookie community.
In 2020 the company had a team of 15 remote staff and was generating $88,000 in monthly recurring revenue. Whilst revenue has since fallen, as of January 2025 it was still over $44,000 per month.

Jungle: $850K in Annual Revenue
AI-powered online study platform
Whoever said learning can’t be fun hasn’t tried Jungle yet.
Formerly known as Wisdolia, Jungle is an AI-powered tool that revolutionised the way people study. The platform can turn any piece of content into practice questions, flashcards, or multiple-choice questions.
The tool is extremely easy to use: users can simply upload their slides, PDFs, notes, and documents or add a link. AI then turns the information into engaging quizzes that emphasise understanding over memorisation.
Julian Alvarez and David Glass founded Jungle in 2023. In less than two years, Jungle has gathered over 650,000 users and reached $850,000 in annual revenue, up from $300,000 the previous year.

Skooldio: $2.9M in Annual Revenue
Digital skills learning platform
Skooldio is an online learning platform which was founded in 2017 by Virot Chiraphadhanakul.
The business provides over 400 courses, workshops and boot camps designed to help people improve their online skills.
Users can browse a selection of courses in business, data, design, or technology, each with varying difficulty levels and prices. The site also offers a skill test to highlight potential knowledge gaps that users can address.
To date, Skooldio has been used by more than 100,000 individuals to upskill themselves, and by over 500 companies to support their teams in improving their expertise.
The business has grown income by 220% over a three-year period and now generates $2.92 million in annual revenue.

Boot.dev: $500K in Monthly Revenue
A gamified way to learn backend development
Boot.dev was founded by Lane Wagner, initially, so his wife could learn back-end development.
Lane wanted to fill a gap in the market by creating a backend-focused course which was both easy to digest and also a fun way to learn. Boot.dev is a gamified way of self-paced learning which was created to meet that need.
There are 25 different courses on the site, all with various modules which focus on sought-after backend skills for the likes of SQL, Python and Go. In addition there are eight projects that users can undertake to solidify their learnings and practise new skills.
To date, the site has attracted over 70,000 students who take around one year to undergo all of the training and gain the required skills to get a job in this space.
Pricing for access to all of the course content is $49 per month or $348 per year. User numbers continued to grow throughout 2023 and 2024, leading to a monthly revenue of $500,000 for Boot.dev.

SkillLane: $6.2M in Annual Revenue
Online course provider with 600K Thai users
SkillLane is an online course platform which was founded in 2014 by Ekachat Assavarujikul and Titipong Pisitwuttinan, but fully launched in 2017.
The Thailand based business features more than 3,900 courses which individuals can purchase to learn new skills, and companies can use to train their employees.
Courses have been created for the site in various areas, including cooking classes, data science, Excel, marketing, presentation skills, real estate, and tax filing.
Anyone with an area of expertise can sign up for the platform to create their own course, which can be accessed by any of the 1.3 million users of the service.
The business has previously received an unspecified amount of funding, and filed for an IPO late in 2024. This is on the back of SkillLane generating a consistent amount of annual revenue, achieving $6.28 million last year and $6.62 million for the previous 12 months.

Interview Kickstart: $10M in Funding
Engineer career progression platform
Interview Kickstart provides a way for experienced engineers to improve their skills in preparation for a new role. The business was founded in 2014 by Ryan Valles and Soham Mehta.
Essentially, the service acts as an interview preparation platform which has trained more than 17,000 engineers to date using their team of over 500 instructors. As well as users being able to improve their technical skills, customers are supported in improving their LinkedIn profiles, resumes and interview confidence.
Users in roles such as iOS engineering, data science, embedded systems and many more, receive remote live training, one-to-one coaching and mock interviews to help progress their careers.
The service offers three levels of training, each containing varying levels of mentor sessions, courses and preparation time. Those interested can attend regular webinars to understand the pricing involved and what is included in each tier.
Whilst not published, the prices of the training courses are reported to be between $2,500 to $10,000, depending on the support level that is enrolled to.
In early 2024 Interview Kickstart announced that they’d raised $10 million in funding to invest further in their offerings of AI and other additional fields.

Perlego: $16.1M in Annual Revenue
Digital library to enable online learning
Perlego is an online library featuring over one million professional and academic books on more than 1,000 topics.
The business was founded in 2017 by Matthew Davis and Gauthier Van Malderen to help those looking to learn save up to 90% on the price of purchasing textbooks.
As well as having full access to the digital library, the platform enables users to listen to books, or even read faster thanks to colour changing text. Customers can also search for specific terms within any book and make notes on what they come across.
A subscription to Perlego costs $22 per month, $60 for four months (semester time frame) or $144 per year. The growing user base has enabled the company to increase revenue by 96% over the last three years to £13.1 million (~$16.1M) in annual revenue.
In October 2024 the business raised $20 million in investment, taking their total funding to date to $85 million.

The Alliance: $18M in Annual Revenue
Education and development platform
The Alliance is a professional development platform for individuals and organisations which was founded in 2019.
The bootstrapped business works with industry experts to provide education in the form of courses, events, memberships, reports and resources to support the development of people and teams.
Membership subscription includes access to exclusive events, on-demand presentations, guides, templates and structured learning resources. Pricing starts at $199 per year for each user depending on the plan. These are tailored to areas such as marketing, sales, SaaS, AI, customer success and many more.
The accredited courses then begin at $1,299 per user and cover topics such as revenue marketing, leadership, sales and product operations.
As the business has grown, so has the number of members. The community now features over 1.5 million people worldwide, including teams from the likes of Google, Microsoft and Uber, who can access 130 annual events.
The Alliance achieved £14.6 million (~$18M) in annual revenue in 2022, a huge increase on the £505,000 (~$631K) generated just three-years earlier.

360Learning: $48M in Annual Revenue
Collaborative learning platform
360Learning is an employee training platform which was founded in 2013 by Nick Hernandez.
The service enables in-house experts and learners to collaborate and quickly create training programs for new team members, in order to support with their onboarding.
Pricing for the service starts at $8 per user per month and includes a dashboard to manage all of the learning. To date, the business has been used by more than 2,300 companies, including household names such as Dior, Duolingo, and Trustpilot.
360Learning - which has raised $242 million in funding to date - has increased annual revenue to €44 million (~$48M) from €12 million (~$13.1M) three years prior.
Annual income for the current financial year is expected to exceed $60 million as the business focuses on growing its North American operations, which currently makes up just over 15% of total revenue, despite growing by 65% year on year.

Chegg: Q3 2024 Revenue of $136.6M
Online learning and exam preparation
Chegg is an exam preparation and homework help platform which was founded in 2005 by Aayush Phumbhra and Osman Rashid.
The service allows users to get expert answers to textbook and homework questions, quizzes, writing and citation support, grammar and proofreading tools and a maths solver. Customers are also able to rent textbooks to help them prepare for specific exams.
The business generates a large proportion of its revenue from subscriptions, with 7.7 million customers subscribing to the service in 2023. This brought in $640.5 million, which was 89% of the total annual revenue which reached $716.3 million.
In Q3 2024 Chegg generated $136.6 million in revenue, which was down 13% year-over-year, largely down to subscriber numbers falling by 13% to 3.8 million for the quarter.

Skillsoft: Q3 2025 Revenue of $137M
Enterprise learning for employees
Skillsoft is an online employee training and development platform which was founded in 1998 by Charles Moran and Jerry Nine along with Tom McDonald and Mark Townsend.
The business features over 180,000 resources, including books, courses and videos designed to support employees in improving their knowledge and skills. The training available covers areas such as leadership, coding and technology skills, and risk compliance and ethics.
Users can trial the service for free, with prices then starting at $20 per month for individuals and $55 per user for the Team platform.
For fiscal year 2024 Skillsoft reached $533.24 million in annual revenue. In Q3 2025, revenue has fallen slightly YoY to $137 million, with the business experiencing a net loss of $24 million for this period compared to $28 million in the previous year.

Coursera: Q4 2024 Revenue of $179.2M
Online course provider
Coursera is an online learning platform for individuals and companies across the globe. The business was founded in 2012 by Daphne Koller and Andrew Ng.
Those looking to learn new skills, attain certifications or degrees can use the platform to complete one of over 10,000 programs from more than 350 organizations and universities.
The courses available are in a wide variety of subjects such as AI, graphic design, health, languages and many more.
Whilst many of the courses are free, users can pay $199/year for unlimited access to a range of learning programs. Individual guided programs start from $9.99 and specific skills training and certificates cost from $49 per month. Coursera also offers MasterTrack certificates and degrees from $2,000 and $9,000 respectively.
In 2023 the business generated $635.8 million in revenue, which was up 21% YoY and brought in $329.8 million in gross profit.
For Q3 2024 Coursera hit $176.1 million in revenue, up 6% YoY, with $96.2 million in profit. The company expects full year 2024 revenue to reach between $690 to $694 million, which would represent a healthy yearly increase.

Duolingo: Q3 2024 Revenue of $192.6M
Tailored online language learning
Duolingo is a fun online language learning platform which breaks lessons into bite-sized chunks that can be quickly completed.
The business was designed by Severin Hacker and Luis von Ahn in 2009, before launching in beta in 2011 and being publicly released in 2012. Luis had previously sold two businesses to Google, the latter of which was reCAPTCHA for tens of millions of dollars.
A free version of the website and app allows users to learn over 30 languages, from German, Italian and Spanish, to Latin, Swahili and Zulu. There is then the option to subscribe to Super Duolingo which is the paid version providing unlimited practising and no ads.
The research-backed training aims to turn language learning into a daily habit, and this appears to resonate with their audience. In Q3 2024 the business reported 37 million daily users and 113 million monthly users.
Revenue for this latest quarter was $192.6 million, which was up 40% year over year. This continues the brand's achievements from the previous year when they increased revenue by 44% YoY to $531.1 million.

Udemy: Q3 2024 Revenue of $195M
Global online learning and teaching marketplace
After growing up in a small town with few educational opportunities, Eren Bali wanted to make quality education accessible to all, regardless of location. In May 2010, he partnered with Gagan Biyani and Oktay Caglar to create the online learning platform Udemy.
Today, Udemy offers more than 215,000 online courses in numerous domains, from business and accounting to marketing, design, and wellbeing. The courses are taught in 75 languages by over 75,000 instructors.
The platform has three plans: Personal, Team, and Enterprise, with the Personal plan starting from $18.80 per month. Learners can also purchase courses without a plan.
In 2023, Udemy enrolled 10 million new learners and over 1,800 new Enterprise customers, generating $728.9 million in revenue, a 16% year on year increase, and $413.9 million in gross profit, a 19% YoY increase.
Udemy generated $195.4 million in Q3 2024, up 6% YoY, with a gross profit of $123.1 million, up 15% YoY.
